Wedding Day Essentials: Eyelash Extensions

Have you heard about eyelash extensions but never tried them out? Well I have, and I am now officially addicted! The whole process only takes 30 minutes and you can have a choice of lashes depending on what look you want to create. I hereby recommend getting these done as a Wedding Day must have!

What to wear: Wedding Guest

Stuck on an outfit to wear to a summer wedding? I'm just loving this take on the classic peplum dress with the cut of the frill, the wide pleated belt and cut away armhole. Team this stunning duck egg blue shade with sheer satin peeptoes and a sparkling clutch. Add some graduated shades and some drop diamante earrings and you are sure to look the part for the day and well into the night. Pass the champers darling!

Friday I'm In Love

Well it's late in the day for this week's Friday I'm In Love, so hopefully you're sitting at home with a glass of wine planning a fun weekend!  Speaking of fun, if you haven't seen a stop motion film then you really have to check out this happy, cute film featuring this oh-so-sweet couple, Adele + Layton.  This engagement session was shot by Delphine from Delphine Photography in the hills around Canterbury - even the music makes me smile!

Happy Friday and a happy weekend too! x

Well the awards season has officially begun. The 2013 Golden Globes kick started on Monday and we were just loving some of the fashion hits and misses. There was an abundance of white, blush, nude, sheer and a tonne of glitz and sparkle! There was a unmistakable nod to bridal couture and we have included some of our favourite bridal inspirations below. Who was your favourite?

Sweet Tangerine

Happy Wednesday!  I have a wonderful friend who introduced me to calling Wednesday 'hump day' and it always makes me laugh when I hear it.  It's so true however that once Wednesday is over then roll on down to Friday!  I don't know about you but I really think this week is going fast...

I think Tangerine is a brave colour, it's bright, bold and beautiful.  Tangerine makes me think of summer and brings back fond memories of orange groves in Valencia, but it's one of those colours that would be a perfect fit for a wedding in any season.  Tangerine hit the headlines in early 2012 with Tangerine Tango being named the Pantone 2012 Colour of the Year and since then it's been trending on the catwalk and proving popular in styled weddings, especially in the florals which is an easy way to make a statement.  I adore the burnt tangerine look to these gorgeous flowers but most of all love the adorable checkered bow-tie on the wee man.  Would you be brave enough to have tangerine as your wedding colour?

Loving Lazaro

I think it's amazing how fashion designers put so much time and care into wedding dresses, perhaps it's their love of fine materials and they want to do them justice, or perhaps it's because they have a complete awareness that a wedding is of the most important occasions in your life so they put a little bit of their love into each design. Whatever it is, aren't we lucky to get to dream about dresses like these gorgeous beauties!  There are many international couture wedding dress designers that I am in love with, Claire Pettitbone and Monique Lhuillier to name a couple of my favourites, but today I have to show you Lazaro.  I absolutely adore this dress above from his Fall 2012 collection and have been in love with it since I first saw it - which then prompted me to spend a lot of time viewing his last three collections to pick my favourites to share with you.  Read more to see my Lazaro picks, it's ok to dream right?!

Also stay tuned to The Big Day for some upcoming features of gorgeous dresses from New Zealand's best bridal designers.

Friday I'm In Love

I just can't believe it's Friday again... I don't know about you but this week is just flying by, although on the upside it means the weekend is almost here!  I hope you loved last week's Friday I'm In Love and that gorgeous first look, well this week I have yet another gorgeous proposal to show you!  After I watched this, all I could think of was OMG, this is cool, so very very very cool!  I love proposals that involve the family and friends of the couple, I think that makes it all the more special knowing you have the absolute love and support from your own loved ones and what a better memory could they have of such a special day.  Ang & I are such fans of film proposals, if you've seen one that is a must-see, then please let us know!

Happy Friday (and Happy Birthday to my special Dad!) x

Wild Red Berry

Well Summer is well and truly here. When I think of Summer, I instantly think of fresh red berries and red fruity cocktails. I just picked up the most delicious punnet of raspberries and have inhaled them almost in one sitting...I had to be good and freeze the rest into ice cube trays to pop into those yummy summer drinks.

Red is such a passionate and intense colour that embodies desire and love. For me, it makes me think of strawberries, red lips, roses and ruby shoes. I love using red as an accent colour to accessorise and just love in the inspiration board above those stunning ankle strap shoes, matched with the red and pink flowers. Also the bright red nails against the ivory dress make such a striking statement without being too over the top. Berries are such a lovely accent to add into either a summer or winter wedding, I love the wild berry buttonhole for the man in your life and could imagine this in a winter wonderland wedding. Or for a summer wedding be sure to check out the Red Berry Shrub Cocktail recipe here. That red velvet cake is just asking for someone to take a bite and I just love the use of the red and pink colour combination in the table decorations.

Scarlett, ruby, crimson, cherry, maroon or cerise...what's your favourite red hue?

Happy Pinning!

So what is this Pinterest that everyone's raving about then?

Pinterest is a Virtual Pinboard. It lets you organise and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. Think of it as your very own space to compartmentalise your life and loves and wants and dreams.

This site is absolutely brilliant and great for anyone wanting to put all of their wedding ideas into one place*. It has a great search if you want to find something specific ie. Blue Wedding Shoes or you can just browse other peoples boards for inspiration.

It also provides an outlet for you to send your ideas to your mum or bridesmaids and they can leave comments about what they like as well (this may not necessarily be a good thing though ;0).

Be sure to check out our Pinterest page for The Big Day here.

*Footnote: You can lose days, even weeks on this website so don't say I didn't warn you!

Friday I'm In Love

I am seriously in love with these images - when you look at them you can see the absolute love Kaelin + Justin have for each other and you just know this lovely bride and groom are meant to be.  They will always have these amazing images from their big day to look back on and I would definitely do a first look photo if I was getting married again (I'm starting to think a 10 year vow renewal is on the cards!). I'm going to go all out there and say this is THE best 'first look' I have ever seen captured and we have the amazing US based Andria Lindquist to thank for this wonderful photography!  Andria mentioned she's never been to NZ, so hopefully one day she'll be able to shoot a wedding here in our gorgeous little corner of the earth!  I have to say, I think Andria's work is amazing and I am even inspired by Andria's email signature which says, 'Let what you love, be what you do', which I think are fantastic words to live by!
