Beaches and Blues

We're just so blessed living in New Zealand where a beach is not too far away and we can use them as we please for a celebration!  If you're considering a beach wedding, there is so much gorgeous inspiration out there and lots of fabulous ideas for how to make a beach wedding comfortable for your guests - think baskets of jandals, personalised bottles of water and wedding programmes as paper fans for guests to use.  When I saw the gorgeous image above of the wedding reception set up on the beach, and with it being our Summer, I couldn't resist putting together some beach and blue inspiration - oh how I'm loving those lanterns!

Happy New Year 2012

New Years Eve is one of those days of the year to look forward to, maybe because you have a fantastic celebration planned to see in the New Year, an annual camping trip booked with friends, a relaxed summer BBQ with family or maybe just because you have a New Year resolution you can't wait to start.  Whatever you enjoy about New Years Eve we hope you can look back at 2012 with some fond memories.  It's been a fabulous year for us and an amazing journey, from planning The Big Day to launching in December, we so love The Big Day and what we've achieved so far (thank you for being part of it!) and bring on 2013 for some exciting things to come!  Whatever you are doing today, we hope you can spend it with friends or family and countdown to a wonderful 2013 filled with love, laughter and happily ever after!  For anyone getting married today, we wish you an amazing day filled with love and special memories, we can't think of a better way to start 2013!

Here's a fun image to take us into 2013 by Canadian based Applehead Studio Photography who took this fantastic shot capturing these newlyweds New Years kiss - loving that ticker-tape!

Friday I'm In Love

I'm absolutely loving Moment Junkie right now for some daily wedding cuteness!  If you haven't had a chance to have a quick peek, I'd highly recommend you sit down with a cuppa (or glass of wine, it is Friday of course!) and have a browse - or have a look here to see a recent Moment Junkie feature from Wellington Based Mary Sylvia Photography.  It's a great source of wedding inspiration and might even give you some ideas for wedding shots you'd like your photographer to take on the big day - at the least it will give you a few smiles and make you feel a bit of wedding love.

And speaking of cuteness, how much do you love this perfectly captured 'hand's over the ears' moment from the wedding of Nicole + Chris, taken by the talented Ray Anthony Photography.  We've all been at a wedding where the best man or bridesmaid has said a comment that made the bride or groom blush, at least if only a little (I'll save those stories for another time!) and I think this cute image shows that this moment was no exception!

Happy Friday x

Merry Christmas 2012

Wow can you believe we've reached another Christmas already! We're sure, like us, you're saying, 'how did that come around so fast?'  We love Christmas, everything from the masses of fairy lights and smell of pine trees to the satisfied, if not slightly over-full tummy and the chance to spend time together with loved ones.  Christmas time really makes you appreciate those you love and care about, and we hope with just a few hours to go that you are all sorted and have a lovely day planned with your loved ones.

Merry Christmas! x

Top Pick: Blurb Photo Books

So what to do with all of those wedding photos you have lying around? Why not create your own wedding coffee table book instead of an album?

It can seem like a daunting process, but after lots and lots of research I've come across some great (and super easy to use) software from the wonderful folk at Blurb.

In a few easy steps you too can have your very own personalised and customised book of your happy, happy day.

Friday I'm In Love

I am such a huge fan of YouTube, I can sit there for hours watching the 'best first dance ever' - luckily for my husband I hadn't watched them all before we got married, although actually maybe it was lucky for me as his dance moves are crazy!

I came across this sweet NZ romantic proposal from Perspectives Photo + Cinema based in Auckland (luckily for the rest of NZ they do travel) and definitely felt the love and yes, did have a few tears welling up!  In the film, Mat, who works for Perspectives (check them out on Facebook and view some fabulous black + white images of the proposal) and the Perspectives team organised the afternoon as a chance to make a story about Mat + Kylie for keepsakes, as far as Kylie thought anyway!, then ended the day with this oh-so-sweet proposal!  You will definitely have to watch to the end to see how Mat pops the question!  Congratulations Mat + Kylie on your engagement!

Happy Friday x

Pretty In Pink

Happy Thursday!  Someone told me yesterday that there was only 6 sleeps till Christmas and it was at that point a bit of mild panic set it with that 'so much to do so little time' feeling!  Needless to say, I'm feeling a little better this morning after writing out a list of jobs that need doing in the next few days, and it all doesn't seem so daunting now.  I hope your lead up to Christmas is going well...

If you're thinking of pink as a colour theme for your wedding but not so sure about the shade, this pretty in pink board will give you some lovely inspiration.  From soft and whimsical like the first image (I adore the combination of pure white matched with soft pink florals and lipstick) to bold and beautiful like the hot pink flowers and shoes, it's easy to incorporate pink into your wedding whether you go all out or just subtle touches.  Florals are another reason pink fits so well into weddings as peonies and the ever-classic roses come in a variety of pink hues which could be made into a simple and elegant or bright eye-catching bouquet, and how much fun would it be to have some pink lemonade to sip on the day!  The link below will take you to the recipe for this pretty summer drink.

Style Me Pretty Weddings • The Book

Wow it's Monday already, where did the weekend go?  I think it gets a little like that when we're so close to Christmas, the weekends just fly by and before you know it it's Christmas day and hopefully you're relaxing with a full tummy, some wonderful family and friends and a nice glass of bubbles!  Abby Larson who founded Style Me Pretty, the inspirational USA wedding blog gurus, has written a book which is released tomorrow (just in time for Christmas in the USA) and I have already pre-ordered myself one of these goodies!  Abby's book, Style Me Pretty Weddings, is a collection of inspiration and ideas for an unforgettable celebration and "contains the most lovely weddings, ideas and inspirations she's ever seen" - so coming from someone who sees hundreds if not thousands of weddings each year, this book must be amazing!  Luckily for us we can order a copy here, though it's not scheduled to arrive in NZ until January 2013 so if you're looking for a Christmas gift you might have to think of something else in the meantime!  Read more for a sneak peek at some of the content from this gorgeous looking book...
