It's so exciting to finally have a long weekend this weekend and for many of us it's a chance to relax and celebrate a great Summer, and enjoy the last of the (hopefully) good weather. Speaking of relaxing and a long weekend, Ang & I are taking a wee break over Easter and will be back blogging on Tuesday. I am having a weekend away visiting family and my best friend who had her first gorgeous wee baby yesterday!
So to take you into the long weekend, we've got a great Friday I'm In Love for a bit of fun Good Friday vieweing - a marriage proposal from youtube, titled 'Greatest Marriage Proposal EVER!' and I must say the planning that went into this one is pretty impressive and with 26 million views to go with it, we definitely think it is worth a look!
We hope you have a happy Easter and lovely long weekend! x

Well, seeing as though it's still Anniversary month, my pick for March would have to be the flower that I had for my wedding...the fabulous orchid.
There are so many different styles, colours and varieties available. Orchids are such beautiful, tropical flowers and also extremely versatile. You could actually theme a whole wedding around them!
Cymbidium orchids look so delicate but are extremely robust and can survive without water for days, so a great idea if you are having an outdoor wedding or if it's extremely hot.
But my favourite is the Phalaenopsis orchid, they just are such a graceful flower and look so amazing in a bunch, or singularly on a button hole or as a cake topper.
Check out all our gorgeous Orchid pins on our 'The Flowers' Pinterest page. Enjoy x

Today I marry best friend, the one I laugh with, live for and love...
7 years ago today I married the man of my dreams, and yes 7 years on he's still the man of my dreams and just as perfect as the day we got married! We got married in a vineyard in West Melton just out of Christchurch, on a day filled with love and laughter, family and friends and wonderful memories!
Would I change anything about my day... um if I'm honest, yes because it's now 2013!, but what I would change are the things that aren't so important 7 years on... I would have coloured shoes and some lace, and I wouldn't (well try not to!) stress about making sure everything went 100% perfect on the day (ok so that's the utter control freak coming out in me!) and sometimes little things just, well, happen! But what I wouldn't change is the most important - the people and the memories, our beautiful family and friends who shared the day with us, they are what made our day so so so very special - from my Mum and Dad walking me up the aisle to the amazing voice of a fabulous jazz singer, to seeing my gorgeous hubby and his tears (sorry Phil!) and the 'dashing' bridesmaids, my wonderful family and friends getting together and having a blast, my (previous) boss with a napkin tied around her head pretending to ride a horse, the surprise in a box (you really have to ask Ang B about that one) and the ever-present caterpillar on the dance floor - all of that made our day exactly what it was... perfect.

Happy Friday Folks! I love a good friday and today isn't disappointing, the sun is shining, the lawn smells of freshly cut grass and my dear Bridesmaid is over from Sydney! I just love catching up with my girlfriends and some of the old crew and I are hitting a fabulous restaurant tonight for some great food, drink and chit-chat!
My 'Friday I'm In Love' for this week features a stunning photo from the end of night, from a couple in Dallas. It was taken by the talented Jojo Pangilinan and featured on the awesome website moment junkie. I just love the idea of finishing your Big Day with a bang!
This really is a great photo of a kiss during a big sparkler exit. I just love that the couple are surrounded by all their loved ones and being showered with sparkles...seriously cute. I've seen some other great 'wedding exit' ideas of having guests release helium balloons, fireworks displays or those amazing lanterns being released into the night sky as well. What would you have as your 'exit' idea?
I hope you all have a great weekend, I know I will. x

Engagement shoots have become so much more popular over the last few years, especially now that there are some amazing photographers and stylists out there who can tailor a shoot to match the couples personality and style. Engagement shoots are usually done anywhere from a couple of days to even months after the couple has got engaged - although if you're the very organised groom who is keen to pop the question and have a photographer waiting in the wings to capture it all, that will definitely be a winner with your bride to be! There are some great benefits to having an engagement shoot, obviously having some fun and fantastic images as a record of your love and engagement to keep forever, but you can also use the images as part of your engagement party invitations, thank you cards, save the date cards or even wedding invitations. It's also a great way to spend some relaxed and fun time together away from the busy world of wedding planning, a change to 'practice' in front of the camera and also a good way to get to know your wedding photographer which will help make things more relaxed for you on your big day!

The fabulous team at Partridge Jewellers really know how to market directly to their audience. I noticed their advert in our local Press and it immediately jumped out at me.

Happy Monday! I'm excited today as I get to introduce the amazing Kate from Kate Grewal Photography to you as one of The Professionals on The Big Day! We absolutely adore Kate's work - we love the way Kate's images tell a story from start to finish and Kate has a amazing way of being able to capture every important moment from a big day and show those as images which are just as beautiful as the moment itself. One of my favourite things about Kate's work is her amazing use of light, and every wedding image I see that Kate has taken is just pure and beautiful all at the same time - love love love!
Kate is based in Auckland, and shoots both Nationally and Internationally, and for those lucky couples who may be getting married in the USA Summer, Kate is spending this July to September shooting in the USA - back just in time for the NZ wedding season!
You can find out all about Kate Grewal Photography here and contact Kate for more information and bookings, or check out Kate's beautiful blog to see some absolutely stunning wedding images. You can also check out one of Kate's gorgeous engagement shoots we featured last month and I'm excited to say soon we're going to be featuring one of her beautiful weddings! Below are two of my favourite of Kate's images and make sure you read more for some more fabulous wedding photos. Welcome to The Big Day x

I hope you've like some of the anniversary inspired posts so far this month, how gorgeous was Ang B's My Dream Wedding inspiration board from Wednesday! My wedding anniversary is coming up in less than two weeks and it's been fun so far, but daunting!, to put together my dream wedding inspiration. Also don't forget to enter our anniversary month giveaway to win your very own copy of the gorgeous Style Me Pretty Weddings book - check out our giveaway blog post for details, the winner will be drawn at the end of this month.
I must confess that I am a huge royal fan, and I was definitely one of those crazy people that watched the royal wedding of William & Kate switching between TVNZ, E and BBC to get the best coverage and just LOVED how they wowed that unbelievably huge crowd with their balcony kiss! You might remember this video from the UK's T-Mobile which went viral prior to their fabulous wedding day, it has been viewed over 27 million times, and is fun take on the Royal Wedding entrance - a bit of fun for a Friday! x

As I was trawling the interweb for anniversary presents for my hubby, I came across some great gift ideas (some that will be kept secret until next year) and I couldn't resist sharing my gift ideas with you.
Of course, you can get your partner-in-crime a traditional gift that symbolises the amount of years you have been married ie. 1 year = Paper, 2 years = Cotton etc (For a full list, check out this list here), but I thought I would provide a type of gift that you can give no matter how many days, months or years that you have been linked together.
I thought that the good old framed print was a great idea as an anniversary gift that can be given at any time. There are so many different combinations and expressions of love that you can do, and the best part of all...it can be totally customised to you and yours...and (BONUS POINTS HERE) it shows that you put a lot of effort in.
I like the 3D effect of the hearts in the top left frame and have seen some other ideas of this using pages of a book, song lyrics or your vows as the heart shaped cutouts. There are some great variations on the Romeo & Juliet print and you could add in your favourite movie couples of all time (cue Moulin Rouge, The Notebook, When Harry met Sally). I love this illustrative heart print which is designed right here in Christchurch, by the very talented Lee Sinclair. Another great idea is using the Longitude and Latitude coordinates of the place you were married. And to finish, I just love the idea of the fingerprint heart with custom details underneath...very cool indeed!
Happy online shopping x
