With Queens Birthday weekend this weekend, I couldn't resist sharing this balcony image from Queen Elizabeth II's wedding to Prince Philip. The Queen was still Princess Elizabeth when she was married to Prince Philip in November 1947 and the ceremony was recorded and broadcast via radio to 200 million people worldwide. Amazingly, the couple received 2500 wedding gifts! This image is not quite the kiss on the balcony that we were lucky enough to see from Prince William and Princess Catherine - remembering this is 1947 though - but I think their lovely smiles are testament to the occasion and I am in awe that this wonderful couple have been married for 65 years (the traditional UK 'gift' of a 65th wedding anniversary is Blue Sapphire) and going strong! Can't you just see the likeness of Prince William in this young Prince Philip? Lets hope in 65 years time images of Kate and William are still gracing the internet!

Thanks to the wonderful folk over at The Elli Blog for these gorgeous vintage and rustic wine labels. And did we mention they are free!!!
I just love this idea, especially with so many winery wedding venues in New Zealand, this would look so great sitting on the table for your guests to enjoy. I love the idea of keeping a bottle for your first anniversary or as a happy reminder of your special day.
Check out the rest of the invitation suite, which is just as gorgeous as well.
You can personalise this FREE printable with your monogram, names and wedding date. Now, how easy is that?!?
Cheers The Elli Blog!

Peacock themed weddings are trending hot right now and it's no wonder with the gorgeous colour palette of jewel tones and antique golds - so very regal and elegant. I think the trick to it is to only use touches of the colour palette without incorporating the actual feather into every single detail.
If you just pick one or two of the colours ie. colbalt blue and teal and team this with an antique gold and then just use a splattering of peacock feathers in your execution then you are onto a sure fire winner!
Be sure to check out our 'The Inspiration' board on Pinterest for loads more ideas on Peacock Themed Weddings.

One of the things we love about The Big Day is we get to showcase some of the amazing wedding talent we have based right here in New Zealand. Rue De Seine is a fabulous and bohemian chic bridal brand by designer Michelle Corty and her stunning New Zealand boutique is based right in Newmarket, Auckland. You might have seen some of Michelle's fabulous creations on blogs and in wedding magazines worn by beautiful brides, and you can swoon over her wedding collection on the Rue De Seine 'shop' page or visit their Newmarket store at 6A Kent Street. If you're out of Auckland, you can contact Rue De Seine on info@ruedeseine.com. Here are two of my favourite dresses from the Rue De Seine collection - to see the rest of my favourites, make sure you read more! x

Happy Friday Folks! This week I found a great video company based in Palmerston North called Nicklin Visuals and they do these fabulous wedding trailers! That's right, you can have your very own movie trailer from your wedding video.
This lovely trailer above includes the gorgeous Brooke and Mike from their wedding in Malolo Lai Lai, Fiji.
I just love all the little intimate details - the handwritten note, the guests faces, the hand carved tree and of course the skipping at the end!
Check out more of these gorgeous Wedding Trailers and videos at their Vimeo Page here.
Enjoy your weekend x

The Pick of the Month for this month is Ranunculas. I just love everything about them, they are so sweet and soft and have oodles of petals AND come in a great range of colours. They are a great winter flower but also great for spring weddings too.
They are currently very on trend for bridal bouquets, whether just on their own or paired with roses, peonies or other seasonal flowers. They are also great for buttonholes and table settings too. I love that rustic table setting below with it's mixed array of colours and different vases.
They are also a great choice as once cut, they last upto a week so will look super fresh all day long.
Check out our 'The Flowers' Pinterest page for some more awesome ideas.

I know it's still Autumn, but truly it feels like Winter with the weather we're having at the moment, so I thought I'd take some inspiration from the Grey skies and put it into some stunning wedding images for you! I've seen lots of inspiration of Grey matched with peach, yellow, blue hues and pink, but Grey on it's own teamed with white can look just as equally as stunning. I absolutely adore these beautiful flowers and the place setting I actually want for my dinner table - plus who would say no to a gorgeous pair of Chanel heels!

Ok, so by reading the heading of this blog post you're probably thinking... what the? Why would The Big Day be blogging about tea towels? Well when I came across these tea towels that can actually be wedding invitations (or used for 'thank you's', save the dates or even wedding favours) I thought they would be perfect to blog about! I actually think this is quite a unique idea, and I do think if I had one of these in my tea towel drawer from a friend or family member's wedding, it would definitely be a fun reminder of their day!
The company who makes these goodies is Invitation Tea Towels based in Sydney and can ship to NZ. You can choose your design from their range or customise your own and they use good quality cotton, linen or linen cotton blend and will even do custom cut and sewn hemp on request. They can also screen print personalised name tags, napkins and even table runners if you want to extend the theme into your actual wedding! Well done Invitation Tea Towels for a very cool concept - I think the only problem I would have is choosing what design I wanted!

Happy Friday! How gorgeous was Ang B's Great Gatsby inspiration board on Wednesday and inspired post yesterday? I'm so very much looking forward to seeing the movie, I'm sure Leonardo DiCaprio is fantastic and I can't wait to check out those amazing 1920's glam outfits!
Today's Friday I'm In Love comes all the way from Dixie Pixel Photography in Knoxville, Tennessee - courtesy of Moment Junkie. I love love love these ladies reactions to seeing the bride for the first time, the facial expressions of both of these ladies is just priceless! Images like these are just magic and are a perfect addition to a more formal wedding album, and Tara at Dixie Pixel Photography captures it perfectly. If you have a minute, do check out some of the very fabulous images on Tara's website, I love this one - it reminds me in someways of a scene from the Forrest Gump movie with that fabulous tree! x

Following on from yesterday's Great Gatsby Mood Board, I just had to share with you some wee gems of inspiration I found from other great bloggers from around the globe.
As I mentioned, the fashion (and wedding world) is rife with Gatsby fever! And here are three styled photoshoots for you to drool over.
The first is from Jenn & Derrek Sullivan with Flora + Fauna. Set in Florida in the 1920s built The Ribault Club and featuring a drool worthy gown from BHLDN. See the feature here on Green Wedding Shoes for all the gorgeous photos and full list of credits.

The second gorgeous styled shoot is by Lauren Scotti and Just Wenderful. Check out the link and credits on 100 Layer Cake to view all of these stunning shots and fabulous dessert bar!

And lastly, over on Style Me Pretty, one from Robert & Kathleen Photographers and Pretty Little Details.
Here's the full gallery and credits.

So grab a cocktail and sit back and enjoy the show!
